23-Year-Old Seriously Injured In Two-Vehicle Long Island Crash

A 23-year-old suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle midday crash on Long Island.

It happened around 12:45 p.m. Sunday, June 27 in East Farmingdale.

Diane Sclafani, age 60, of Centereach, was driving a 2006 Honda Pilot westbound on Conklin Street and attempted to make a left-hand turn into St. Charles/Resurrection Cemeteries when the vehicle was struck by a 2001 Honda motorcycle, Suffolk County Police said.

The motorcycle was being driven by Marcos Zavala-Maldonado, age 23, of Wyandanch, who was attempting to pass her on the left side, according to Suffolk County Police.

Zavala-Maldonado was thrown from the motorcycle, said police.

Zavala-Maldonado was taken by ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow in serious condition, police said. 

Sclafani was taken via ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with non-life-threatening injuries, said police.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
